Bible Text: Luke 7:13 And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
LIFE POINT:
There are moments in life when words fail us, and all we can do is cry. The widow of Nain was experiencing one of those moments. She had already lost her husband, and now she was walking behind the coffin of her only son. Her tears were not ordinary tears they were tears of grief, loneliness, uncertainty, and a painful fear of what tomorrow would bring.
But then something happened that changed everything. “And when the Lord saw her “
Jesus saw her. She did not have to call Him. She did not have to explain her situation. She did not have to beg Him for help. Jesus saw her pain.
This is one of the greatest comforts of the Christian faith: God sees you.
God Sees the Tears Nobody Else Sees. There are tears you shed in public and tears you hide from everyone.
There are battles you cannot explain to your family, friends, or even those closest to you. Sometimes you smile on the outside while your heart is crying on the inside.
But remember, Jesus sees you Psalm 56:8 says, Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?
Your tears are not wasted. Heaven knows what you are going through.
Jesus Has Compassion for Your Pain. The Bible says,
He had compassion on her.
Jesus was not indifferent to her suffering. He was moved by it. Our God is not a distant God who watches our struggles without caring. He is a compassionate Father who understands our weaknesses and feels our pain.
Hebrews 4:15 reminds us that we have a High Priest who can be touched with the feeling of our infirmities.
When people say, I don’t understand what you are going through, Jesus understands.
When people don’t know what to say to you, Jesus knows. When people walk away from your pain, Jesus draws near.
When Jesus Says Weep Not, He Is Speaking Hope
Jesus said to her, Weep not. He wasn’t telling her that her pain wasn’t real. He was telling her that her situation was about to change.
Jesus knew what she did not know. She saw a coffin.
Jesus saw a miracle. She saw the end. Jesus saw a new beginning. She saw death. Jesus saw an opportunity to demonstrate the power of resurrection.
Sometimes God tells us, Weep not, not because there is no reason to cry, but because He is already working on what will wipe away our tears. Your Present Situation Is Not Your Final Story. The widow thought she was going home with a dead son.
But Jesus stopped the procession.
What a powerful moment!
The same Jesus who stopped the funeral procession is still able to interrupt situations that appear hopeless. He can interrupt disappointment with favor.
He can interrupt sickness with healing.
He can interrupt failure with restoration.
He can interrupt mourning with joy.
He can interrupt closed doors with divine opportunities.
Never allow what you see today to convince you that God has finished writing your story. Sometimes Your Miracle Is Already Walking towards you. Jesus was coming from another direction. Their paths met.
She was walking toward a grave, but Jesus was walking toward her.
You may feel as though you are moving toward the end of something, but God may already be moving toward you with the answer. You may not see Him yet. You may not understand His timing. You may not know how He will do it.
But Jesus is still moving.
When your heart is heavy, remember, Jesus sees you.
Jesus understands you.
Jesus has compassion on you.
Jesus is not intimidated by your situation. Jesus can speak life into what looks dead.
So, child of God, weep if you must, but don’t lose your hope. Your tears may be real, but they don’t have to be the end of your story.
The same Jesus who looked at the widow of Nain and said, Weep not!
is still the same yesterday, today, and forever. AMEN!
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, thank You because You see me even when nobody understands what I am going through. Thank You for Your compassion and mercy. In every area of my life where I have been crying, bring Jesus’ name, Amen.
